Stockport is on the verge of strong economic growth anddevelopment, according to senior commercial property specialistsand local politicians.
The predictions come after a high-profile event at Park Square,where regional business leaders and Stockport Councilrepresentatives came together to discuss the future economic growthof the town.
After the event, Tony Jones, managing director of OrbitDevelopments, which hosted the seminar at the landmark six storeybuilding, commented: “Significant strides have been made in thelast 12 months to establish Stockport as a thriving economicbusiness hub.
“With continued investment expected to be injected into the areain the coming years, we’re confident that the commercial propertymarket will benefit from the efforts being made, not just by theCouncil, but also the wider business community.”
He added: “Development in and out of the town centre isessential to the borough’s future prosperity. Locations such asPark Square – one of south Manchester’s biggest office buildingswith the largest single floor plate in the region – will also playan integral role in attracting new business to the area, as we lookto capitalise on the recent arrival of high-profile companies,including British Sky Broadcasting.”
The event, which was hosted in the well-established businessdistrict on Bird Hall Lane, close to the M60, was attended bynearly 100 regional business, political and commercial propertyfigures. Councillor Dave Goddard, the leader of Stockport BoroughCouncil, who attended the event alongside Eamonn Boylan, theCouncil’s chief executive, said:
“Stockport is a great place to do business. The Council iscommitted to attracting new business to the borough and developingopportunities for existing businesses to thrive within the region.It was very encouraging to see so many local and regionalbusinesses attend the event to share their views on how we can takeStockport forward economically.”
Orbit Developments, part of the Emerson Group, is one of thelargest privately-owned development and investment companies in theUK. Its main focus is on the development and retention ofcommercial properties in the office, industrial, leisure and retailsectors.
