The town is full of landmarks and culture. With three Grade II* listed buildings including two churches and Ashton New Hall in addition to 18 Grade II listed buildings including the cenotaph-fronted town hall, Sale has a rich heritage with lots of buildings of importance. Situated northeast of the town centre is Sale Water Park, a venue for water sports, fishing and bird watching.

The town centre has recently undergone an impressive re-development. Significant improvements have been made around the Bridgewater canal, Sale Town Hall and its surrounding areas.
