Orbit Developments has let 9,000 sq ft of office accommodationat Applicon House in Stockport to Canadian-owned business, The CashStore.
It is the second significant Stockport deal Orbit has signed inas many weeks after it let 9,720 sq ft at Park Square in Cheadle,to US-owned engineering consultancy, Jacobs Engineering.
The Cash Store already has a growing retail presence across theUK. As part of the deal, it is understood that the company willlocate and grow its admin function and contact centre in Stockport.The move is expected to create a significant number of jobs in thearea, both in the short-term and as a result of further growth.
Applicon House is a six-storey building based on Exchange Streetin Stockport. The building now has an occupancy level of over 80per cent and there is significant interest in the remaining groundfloor.
Rhys Owen, leasing surveyor at Orbit Developments, commented:”Stockport is witnessing exciting growth at the moment. This is asizeable letting by an international company and will have positiveimplications for the local economy. We only have one floor left atApplicon House, which we hope to let before the end of the year. Weare also seeing strong interest in our other Stockportproperties.”

The Cash store signed a 10-year lease with a quoting rent of£12.95 per sq ft. The Cash Store was represented by Leslie Roberts& Co. While Orbit Developments acted for itself.
Orbit is one of the largest commercial landlord’s in theStockport area with a total floor area of 438,447 sq ft across 11buildings. Key developments include Regent House, an 11-storeyoffice development, totaling 102,950 sq ft and Beckwith House, anine-storey building, totaling 35,050 sq ft.
