In 1983 this Macclesfield based company formally known as A1Drains rebranded to Metro Rod and offered its first franchisingopportunities. Metro Rod’s first head office consisted of 5 officestaff and 3 engineers. In 1984 the first franchises were sold toChester & North Wales, Manchester and Merseyside and went fromserving Macclesfield to covering 1.3 million households and 91,000businesses. This level of growth didn’t stop there, within fiveyears Metro Rod had grown to cover virtually the whole of theUK.

Orbit Developments were able to help with Metro Rod’s growthoffering them modern flexible office space at an affordable price, enabling them to concentrate on their business expansion.  InOctober 2012, they relocated over 80 staff into the entire 14,039sq ft of Ashwood Court.

Gillian Walker, Business Services Manager at Metro Rodcommented:  “We had outgrown the premises on Churchill Way.Having looked at properties within Macclesfield town we decidedthat out of town had much better sites.  We decided toseriously think about Tytherington Business Park as it had all thekey elements for us as a business”.

She continued: “The local team at Orbit were all very helpful, they had to accommodate many last minute visits by us and ouroffice movers; nothing was too much trouble.  The staff veryquickly settled in and began to enjoy their new environment. We are very pleased to be celebrating 30 years and to be stillgoing strong.”

Paul McLeman, Leasing Director at Orbit Developments commented:”We are pleased to welcome Metro Rod to Tytherington BusinessPark.  They are a well-established group offering a qualityservice throughout the UK and the fact they are celebrating 30years is testament to what they do and have achieved.”
