Macclesfield office market bucks the trend in South Manchester

Leading South Manchester commercial property developers OrbitDevelopments have announced a significant take up in the officemarket in the Macclesfield area following a stream of considerableactivity over the past 12-18 months.

Orbit Developments are the landlord and developer of thewell-known Tytherington Business Park located on the Silk Roadwhich was occupied by pharmaceutical giant Astra Zeneca who were in75,000 sq ft of office space. Following the economic downturn,Astra Zeneca consolidated moving to Alderley Park, leaving a voidat Orbit’s business park.

The landlord has since let close to 50,000 sq ft of office spacewithin their Macclesfield office portfolio both at TytheringtonBusiness Park and Lyme Green Business Park to both existingcustomers who have expanded and to new business. Customers rangefrom start-up businesses consisting of 1 – 4 people to businesseswith over 190 offices worldwide.

Recent existing customers who have expanded within Orbit’sMacclesfield portfolio include; top retail marketing agency -Momentum Instore who have relocated from Handforth Dean toTytherington Business Park and have taken 8,500 sq ft of officespace on a 10 year deal; the UK’s leading supplier of drainageservices – Metrorod who have taken an additional 14,000 sq ft andlongstanding customer Bodycote plc who have expanded head count andhave relocated staff to their Tytherington base making arequirement for an additional 3,200 sq ft of space.

New customers to the portfolio include; Uniscan Instruments whohave taken 3,000 sq ft of office space after relocating from themarket town of Buxton and Clothing Sites, who specialise in onlinepremium menswear, have taken 2,000 sq ft of office space makingPinewood Court located on the business park fully let.

Winterton House located on close by Lyme Green Business Park,have seen long standing customer Car Loans 4U – the UK’s No.1online car finance specialist, take an additional 3,500 sq ftwithin the building, making the it fully let. The online carfinance specialist has expanded their business on four occasionssince they first took occupation in 2006, bringing their totaloccupation up to 12,433 sq ft.
