Legendary athlete and TV presenter Kriss Akabusi joined commercial property agents at Orbit’s Regent House in Stockport on Thursday 22nd January to get 2015 off to a flying start.

Over 50 people – including the Mayor of Stockport and the region’s leading property agents attended a special event with the Orbit team and Olympian to get an update on the recent changes that have taken place in Stockport and information on future developments planned in order to attract new businesses into the town over the next 12 months.

Led by Leasing Surveyor Rhys Owen, attendees got an overview of developments in the town, heard about events and new attractions along with news of positive changes in Orbit’s own portfolio, customer feedback and benefits of choosing Stockport as a business location.

Kriss Akabusi was tasked with challenging some of the misconceptions about the town and encouraging people to reappraise what’s on offer.

He said: “In my career I have been lucky enough to have those around me who spotted my potential and encouraged me. It is the same for a place. Team work, making small changes and having belief can make a huge difference and Stockport needs people who are ambassadors for the town in order for it to become a success story.”

Tony Jones, Managing Director of Orbit commented: “Kriss is a great character who has led by example both on the track, in his TV work and more recently through his motivational speaking career. He added the energy to what is a really encouraging picture in Stockport. His links to the popular TV show Record Breakers gave us the perfect theme for our year-long challenge for agents.”

Orbit is hoping to raise the bar for 2015 with a raft of incentives, quarterly prizes and an overall top achiever award to the property agents who display the strongest performance in Stockport.

Chris Cheap, Director of GVA said: “Orbit have demonstrated how Stockport is changing and how it can meet a business’s requirements perfectly in terms of availability and location. There is huge potential for Stockport with the choice and flexibility around space and deals available. Kriss Akabusi was inspiring and complemented the event and overall message perfectly.”
