Saturday 13th October was a bright and sunnyday for East Cheshire Hospice supporters who took part in theirannual Hike the Hill event sponsored by Orbit Developments. Over100 walkers set-off early morning from the Cat and Fiddle pub,before walking 12 miles across the beautiful Cheshire countrysideto raise vital funds for their local Hospice.
The stunning autumnal weather also helped walkers capturethe scenery in all its beauty. Some of the shots taken have beenentered into the Hike the Hill photography competition – anopportunity for budding artists to get their work noticed andjudged by award-winning local photographer, Howard Barlow. Thewinner will be announced later this month and the chosen image willbe printed onto a large canvas, thanks to the generosity ofJessop’s, and will be proudly displayed in East Cheshire Hospice’sshop on Chestergate, Macclesfield.
Feedback from the event was superb with many walkersalready signing-up to take part again next year. Tracey O’Keefe,East Cheshire Hospice’s Chair of Trustees, welcomed walkers back tothe Hospice, where a selection of juicy homemade burgers andscrumptious cakes, created by the Hospice’s Catering team, wereready for the hungry hikers to enjoy!

During our 25thyear in 2013, we’re looking at developing the Hike even further andoffering an additional shorter route to encourage families to comealong and take part.”
