Clinical sample services specialists Colibri Scientific have relocated from Alderley Park to a large facility at Orbit’s Deanway Business Park, near Handforth, to support their continued growth.

Colibri Scientific provides sample operational services for early phase clinical trials across all therapeutic areas, with a focus on oncology and most recently Covid 19.

Set up in 2017 by Managing Director Sue Keeler, after many years in large pharma, Colibri Scientific now employs an 11-strong team to deliver and improve clinical sample management for a range of clients.

The new 4,675 sq ft of self-contained building in Handforth will house offices, kit production space and a laboratory area with further scope for expansion as required.

Sue commented: “We operate in a specialist field and needed space to fit those needs and to ensure we could provide for changing requirements of our customers and the wider industry.

“We were delighted to find standalone facilities at Deanway. We don’t have to share with other businesses, which is quite hard to find in this area, and we now have all the flexibility we need to support our growth ambitions.”

Commenting on Orbit’s support in finding the space and enabling the move Sue said: “They worked closely with us from the off to identify the facility, helped find suppliers to support us with the refit and allowed us to get on with it quickly, which always helps when you are on the move. We have settled in really well.”

Dean Richards, Regional Leasing Director for Orbit, said it was great to be able to accommodate Colibri Scientific in Handforth. “They are a successful business working in a growth sector, so it was important we could meet today’s needs and provide space for expansion in the future.

“It was a pleasure to deal with Sue and her team at Colibri and particularly satisfying to be able to help with the growth of the company.

He continued: “We have now done a number of pharma-related laboratory refits in office space across the North West portfolio as interest in outsourced clinical trial services and wider medical support gathers pace.”

Deanway occupies a prime position on Wilmslow Road, within a short drive of both Handforth and Wilmslow, with easy access to the A555 Manchester Airport Relief Road, the A34 and the M60 & M56 motorways. It is also close to Handforth and Wilmslow rail stations with good links to London and Manchester Airport with flights to 200 destinations worldwide.
