We met up with Katie Allen of My Digital Accounts to find out why she felt now was the right time to move the business into larger offices:
Tell us a little bit about your business:
My Digital Accounts is a cloud accounting software platform designed for Payrollers and Accountants servicing the UK contractor market. We’re making maintaining and producing accounts simple and straight forward, eliminating the need for multiple software packages making its users more efficient. The company is constantly growing and expanding its functionality to compete in wider accounting and payroll markets.
How long have you been at Springfield House?
We first moved into Springfield House August 2017 into suite 8 on the third floor. We have since moved into suite 4 on the first floor which is roughly twice the size and Orbit ensured the move was seamless for us.
What sort of businesses do you look after?
We provide software for contractor accountants and umbrella payroll companies who look after the accounting and payroll needs of temporary workers.
How is your business different?
My Digital Accounts is a software designed by accountants for accountants, providing the perfect solution for the making tax digital initiative. Umbrella payroll is turned into a process which takes just minutes instead of the hours it used to.
Why did you need to move into larger offices at Springfield House?
The increase in activity meant we were required to expand the team, staff numbers have doubled in the last year. The larger office is better for hosting clients. We loved the building and the Building Manager Carl is really helpful and helps make a professional impression with any visitors to the building.
What are the future plans for My Digital Accounts?
We want to continue to grow, demand is increasing so allows us to better service our existing customers whilst adding more resources to the development and enhancement of our core project.
What appealed to you about Springfield House?
Wilmslow is the perfect location with lots of amenities for staff to utilise during their breaks. The accessibility of Wilmslow is excellent, the station is on the mainline between Manchester and London, where we conduct meetings, and it is near to Manchester Airport, which is key for our connection with our developers based in India. Wilmslow has major road links so it provides easy travel for staff, meaning we can recruit from a wider area with it being so well connected. The north of England has a strong business community which is seeing huge growth and Wilmslow puts us at the centre of this boom.
How have you found dealing with Orbit during your expansion period?
Orbit have been very flexible and accommodating, transitions between units was made very easy and they provided us with lots of suitable options for new offices. The speed in which we have scaled up wasn’t a problem and we were able to move within a short period of time. We are confident that Orbit will look after us as we execute our growth plans. It is comforting to know that scaling up our accommodation during the next few years is not something we have to worry about as we have Orbit to take care of that for us!
