ORBITS LOWRY OUTLET MALL FILLS THE GAP - July 2010
International clothing and apparel retailer GAP Outlet has announced it will be opening at the Lowry Outlet Mall, Salford Quays in September this year.
The signing is seen as a boost for the Mall and an indication of the growing confidence in the retail sector. Commented Centre Manager Rob Hallworth, ‘We are delighted to welcome GAP Outlet to the Mall. GAP is a destination retailer, appealing to a wide section of people, which we believe will attract shoppers from across the Northwest region.”
The GAP Outlet will occupy a ground floor unit adjacent to Cadbury’s Factory Outlet, and opposite the newly re-located Suits You store, which moved to facilitate the GAP letting. The new GAP Outlet store is 7,960 square feet in size.
Commenting on the GAP Outlet’s signing and their relocation, Paul Stonehouse, Managing Director at Suits You said: “We’ve been delighted with our sales and performance at the Lowry Outlet Mall.
“Our strong brand offering – Ben Sherman. Cerutti and Ted Baker for example – have been a big part of our success. The signing of a GAP Outlet strengthens the overall Mall offering and we expect to see an even bigger increase in footfall as a result.”
The news of the GAP Outlet’s signing comes at the same time as Dickies, the workwear and fashion brand, have just opened a store at the Mall.
Dickies, known for its wide range of protective workwear products, including overalls, hi-vis and boots, has in recent years become a favourite with label-lovers for its trendy non-work shirts, jackets and trousers.
Continues Hallworth: “Menswear has performed extremely well for us in the last 12 months and Dickies is a great name to add to our growing portfolio in this category.”
Dickies, is situated on the ground floor, opposite O2 and Whistles, covering 2,113
Square feet. It opened on the 28th June and created 6 new jobs.
New retailer Bijoux also reported an excellent first couple of months trading at the Mall. Nigel Steele, from Bijoux, said: “We’ve only been open for eight weeks but have had a solid start. We’re optimistic looking forward, particularly with the development of MediaCity. We’ve been very impressed with how the Lowry Outlet Mall operates and by its commitment to grow.”
Concludes Hallworth, “We’ve had a strong start to 2010 and these new retailers really lay the foundations for what we hope will be an even stronger Q3 and Q4. GAP Outlet in particular is ideally suited for the imminent arrival of businesses and residents to MediacityUK is sure to be a great boost for the area too, creating a ‘golden triangle’of retail, leisure and business sectors – MediacityUK, The Lowry Theatre/Lowry Outlet Mall complex and the Imperial War Museum North.
